Hello everyone, hope you're all well.
Mark, Matt, Gracie and I have all been up to the Lakes for the weekend-the lodges owned by the benevolent fund. We've had a lovely time, but it was very tiring. We came back earlier than planned on Sunday afternoon, partly because the British weather got the better of us, and partly because Mark was a bit uncomfortable.
We sailed from Bowness to Ambleside on Saturday, which was lovely, I'll add some photos when I get chance to 'upload' them-thats 'put them on't computor' for the technophobes amongst you! I have put on one of the family portraits that my dad did a couple of weeks ago for now, hope you like it.
For anyone who doesn't know...Mark is having a bit of a gathering on Thursday 27th at the Howfener pub on Bolton Rd, Westhoughton. Obviously, we don't know how Mark will be feeling on the night, but will do his very best to put in an appearance. For anyone who remembers her, Sue RF (manager of SNOB in the Arndale circa 1988- Welsh and swore alot-still does), is the manager of the Howfener. If you intend to attend, then let either Pete Giles or Stuart Pizey know-for catering.
re memories of BSPS/Arndale -Les and Ivan the lovely RAC men who stood on Market Street by Burtons.
I'll say bye for now, and hope to see many of you on Thursday.

Good to hear you had a good weekend in the Lakes. We've just had a great week in Keswick, but the weather was typically Cumbrian - ie it rained a lot! Great family photo, look forward to seeing the others. Will be there on Thursday, with a few of the Wigan crowd. Take care, Wayne, Julie and Nathan
ReplyDeleteRemember those days at Bootle street 10.00am. Monday to friday in the canteen straight after OPU read up. You Butty me and Ken egg and beans on toast. Absolute Utopia. Took ages to eat cos Butty never stopped cracking jokes. Hopefully see you on Thursday. Ann and Ken.
ReplyDeleteReading about you making people smile, well yes you do.Apart from when I was daft enough to follow one of your (many) tips at York Races.
ReplyDeleteSee you Thursday. Andy Watkins

The "Loose road chipping" that caused damage to plate glass windows all over the A Division. ("No crime, over")
The "black dog / oil in the road / black ice" that featured in every PVA report.

Hi Pal, Good to hear that you had a good time in the lakes. I remember the last time we went up there with some of the Wigan lads. If I remember well it was a quick exit from Bowness after we have all been in the pond. We will be up at the Howfener on Thursday night, hopefully Geoff Scott will be there as well.
ReplyDeleteTake care Tim, Bernie and Edward

ReplyDeleteTo Mark and family, thank you for showing me the true meaning of fortitude and dignity. Jean (wifeOB) said that the children would remember that night for ever as it showed the respect and loyalty of the Police family to one of its own.

When I joined in 1976 I discovered that it was a life of violence and drink, and you got paid for it. When I was transferred to the A division I found it was diferent at BSPS. There it was a life of violence, drink, curry and overtime. WOOHOO
