Mark was moved to Bolton Hospice this morning, feeling somewhat the worse for wear...He's had about 6.5 litres of fluid drained from his stomach - the surgeon said he couldn't manage that in his rugby days- no duff! (they have a funny sense of humour that lot!).
He's alot more comfortable now, and the aim is to get his medications balanced, get him eating again and get him some physio to get him mobile again - he's all weak and wobbly at the moment. He's got a lovely room with a big bay window overlooking the garden, and some lovely people looking after him. Hopefully, they'll get him sorted in the next week or so, and he'll be able to come home again.
Mark reminded me that you could put six prisoners on the old 330 -I'd long since forgotten - and as for Finbar O'Neal, I'm sure he's an alien being, he's been around forever and never changes (his clothes).
Do any of you remember certain members of the Arndale staff dressing up in ladies clothes at IBIZA? I'm sure there were photos....I'll say no more!
And Saturday breakfasts at Ravel?
And the racing at DER?
For now, 'keep the faith' as they say,

Guys.
ReplyDeleteWe’re really saddened that Marks had a set back.
I would like to visit but don’t want to impose if it is not appropriate. Wendy, I’m sure others are thinking the same so could you let us know?
I loved what Nat Bags did on her last post, and it really got the memories flowing.
Mine go back a bit further than most so apologies if they don’t mean anything but here are just a few.
• Clive Winstanley
• The Sgts – Billy Bagnall, Ged Pilling and especially that diamond Steve Burgess – Remember office Christmas parties? And I am not talking about ours!
• Tuesday after lates –the Moonraker, Cellar V, the Conti and others.
• Dancing in the Ritz – that was before Nats started going there for a fight!
• Edwin Star
• Carol Rushton and Anita Clarke
• Papa Thomas’s
• Terry Johnson and Graham Glover – footrace the length of Bootle St on nights for a bet, with the sequel being a bike race round the yard. One of them came off but I can’t remember which.
• Saggy headlinings in the vans.
• Val Scholes
• Ian Jackson (Blondie)
• Tony Brady
• That g*t of Super Eric Gill
• Mick Waud
• 4 patrol
• The staff in the jewellers on Piccadilly
• Whitcher, Scanlon and Lawton
• Bently, Mann and Pizey
• Alan May – What a brain, ACPO material but for his liking for hops based beverages.
• Nick Young – now he had a sense of humour, not!
• The CDC
• Norman Law
• Street Thefts - The best fun you could have with your clothes on!
• Barbara Savage in Comms – that voice!
• New Year parties at mine
• The Charity Shield 1983 United 2 – Liverpool 0 – who was your mate that we went with Mark? – listened to your favourite album all the way there and back in that shed of a Granada I had, remember , Spandau Ballet and ‘True’
This could go on some time so I’ll wind my neck in for now before I bore everyone to tears.
Before I go, if there is one track that will always remind me of those days and you, it’s ‘Gold’ off that album! Give it another go the lyrics not half bad.
I never really got Northern soul but I know it was your first musical love. Which is apt really ‘cause soul is something you’ve always had in spades. Believe it.
You all remain in our thoughts constantly and I will say again if we can be of any assistance at all, Wendy, all you need do is ask.
Back soon
