Dear All,
I just want to say a big thankyou to all of you, who have so far contributed to this blog, with your lovely comments and kind wishes. Mark is 'working up' to posting his own comments, and has logged on numerous times, but can't find the right words yet.
Mark has drawn great comfort from some of the lovely comments, they have made us laugh and cry. It is heart warming to know that you hold him in such high esteem, and that he has so many good friends and colleagues.
Mark is very tired at the moment. He's got lots of things he wants to say and write down, but just can't find the energy or the words at the moment...we're hoping the sun will come out and cheer us both up!
In the meantime, if you have any funny stories, or anecdotes or good jokes-we could do with a laugh.
If you too can't find the right words to put down, but are viewing this blog regularly, put your thinking cap on, and just write from the heart.

The Bad News Is..
Dear All,
We went to Christies today, and our worst fears were confirmed, the cancer has already spread to his lungs and stomach.
They have offered Mark chemotherapy, which may shrink the tumour in his oesophagus, but wont really help much with the lungs and stomach. Effectively, it might give us a few more months. Mark isn't sure what to do yet, whether to have the chemo or not.
I'm really sorry that there isn't more positive news. As you can all imagine, as a family we are devastated. Matthew and Gracie know the extent of Mark's illness and are being 'super brave' under the circumstances.
Mark's in bed right now, but when he's feeling a bit more with it, he will update this himself. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Beau's Blog!
Hello everyone, Wendy here. We've decided to create a blog for you all to keep up with what's happening with Mark and his treatment.
We have had dozens of cards, messages, texts, phone calls and visits over the last few weeks since Mark was diagnosed. It has been overwhelming for both of us...but great to know that so many of you are thinking about him. It is though, exhausting repeating to you all what's happening, and so our very smart son, Matthew, has created this so that we can update you all with Mark's treatment and progress.
Another reason for this blog is that, once Mark starts his chemotherapy, because of his reduced immunity, and the threat of 'swine flu', it wont be practical to have so many visitors to the house.
Tomorrow, Weds 22nd July, Mark has his first visit to Christies to see the consultant and discuss the plan of attack!
If you have any messages for Mark (or tales that might make him smile!), please put them on.
Keep in touch everyone, by for now,
Wendy Mark Matt and Gracie xxx
